If you desire to capture streaming video, as Mike shared, power dvd works well. Power dvd is not free software.

But if you prefer to capture images frame by frame, Virtualdub is best for this task, it's free. You can set the program to capture each frame to a certain time length and save it as jpeg. Just save your movie to hdd, and upload to virtualdub.

Also here's a trick I used to use, while viewing a movie in full screen, pause it, hit Prt Scn button on keyboard. Open a photo editor or notepad, etc.. and paste. Best free method available.
