I have purchased two different USB cables which are supposed to be a convenience in transferring files from one computer to another. One cable has a blue plastic box in the center with the transfer program stored in a microchip. A small label reads Data Transfer --- made in China. The other cable has a white opaque box in the center. This one has the words Direct Linq on it. I bought them a year ago and then suffered a long illness, so I don't know the source of the devices. When I connect two computers with the cable the screen in My Computer shows all the drives of each computer. One screen is labeled Local Host. The other screen is labeled Remote Host. When you right click on a file, your options are cut or paste. Although the screen shows the files are being transferred, no data is actually transferred.
Has anyone transferred files using a USB cable which connects two computers?agv
The easiest way to transfer files these days is to get a USB thumb drive, put it in one computer, put the files on it, then put it in your other computer and pull them off. That way you don't have to physically get the two systems together.
