I need windows XP license for 200 computers in my college, what to do?

i am the principal of an Engineering college which has just begun its functioning and there are 200 computers installed in various labs. i need licensed windows XP for all the computers. can i get any discount or bulk license for this purpose.

Instead of tying yourself down with Micro$oft which will cost a small fortune wether (a wether being a castrated goat) it be a perpetual license, ie a 1 one off payment, or a rolling license so what many engineering companies do and look at Open Source as an option.



The main reason for this is cost, both for the MS license and any other software packages which can be as expensive if not more than MS's. The other reason is for server and OS interoperability between Unix, Windows and Mac. Another is security from virus's and other malware, anti-virus programmes for Windows also cost per machine.



The Distributions you should be looking at are probably Novell's Suse Enterprise and Redhat... Yes there is a license agreement but this for really useful technical support and assistance in getting what you want how you want it.



I don't know exactly the kind of software you are after but there is tons of it out there which can be adapted (because it is open source) to your needs rather than being dictated to and being told what you require.
