P2P Data Transfer between two computers?

I have bought a new laptop and want to shift data from my old one onto this. Im talking almost 50 gb of data music movies etc. So naturally using a HDD would be slow and a pain. I want to use a LAN cable hook up the two computers to each other and transfer the data. Only glitch is im not able to ....can anyone give me instructions or step by step procedures to do this?

Thats is quite easy dear. I am sure pc %26 laptop both have NIC card. So just u have to buy UTP cat-5 cable(Try to buy a patch cable ) . If u didnot buy a patch cable u have to buy 2 RJ-45 connector. i hope u will find patch cable. Then connect it using patch cord.i m guessing that u r using Windows Xp os. Than just u have to disable Windows firewall From control panel. Now u can find ur pc in my netwok place.

After that Open my computer --Tools -- folder option-- Uncheck "use simple file sharing" --apply--ok.

keep same user name password in both for easy access.

Now share any drive or folder by simply right click.

I hope u will able to got it right.

A USB Hard Disk should do the trick .. else u can get a cross cable .. i.e. a lan cable with a wire interchanged at one end.. u have to ask ur computer dealer to make it .. else u have to create a home network using ethernet switch.
