Last weekend i had to watch my 2 nephews a 13 year old and a 4 year old and i was surprised! all they wanted to do was to be in the computer!!! I remember the good old days... When i was that age... no computers... Everything was so much better! Playing outside, gardening with my mom, Learning mechanic with my dad, etc, etc, Where all of that go? Why now a days kids watch tv and play in the computer all day long? and then i think about how boring it had to be with no computers but we survived... and i had a wonderful childhood... Are we ever be able to give a childhood like ours to our kids?
How did we survived the first years of our lifes without computers?abtuvurys 2005
Childhood changes for every generation. Unfortunately, lots of parents are scared to let their children run around the neighborhood anymore. I remember that's pretty much all we did, and that's what kids in the town I live in now do, but we all watch each other's kids when they're in our homes, etc. The lure of the computer really ticks me off sometimes. My 7 year old stepdaughter comes over on the weekends and usually tries to sit on the computer the WHOLE time and play PollyPocket.com and Barbie.com. Sometimes I MAKE her go outside. I just can't imagine what the screen is doing to her eyes, plus the television. And all she does at her mom's is play Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS.
