How can I resolve error 628 when trying to establish a VPN connecton between 2 computers. PLEASE rea

Both systems are running Windows XP pro. Both computers have a 2Wire DSL modem. (They are on on the same LAN)

after a 30 second connection attempt; the progress indicator says it's connecting. Then when it reads "Verifying Username %26 P/W" it craps out and displays "Error 628: The connection was terminated by the remote computer before it could be completed"

here is what I've done so far:

-I am %100 sure I am using the correct username and p/w. I even tried logging in using a bogus username %26 P/W. I get the same error.

-I have forwarded ports 47, 50, 51, 500 and 1723 on the computer running the XP VPN server.

-all Software and Hardware firewalls are disabled.

-I've created a user and password speciffic to the computer trying to connect.

-No problem pinging, VNCing or RDPing into the computer from outside the LAN

-As a test I UNforwarded port 1723 and 500

then I get an error code 800. This way I KNOW some sort of connection is being made. HELP! n3rds

628 relates to the fact that your account doesnt support dial in access.

if you are using active directory for your accounts under the dial in tab you will find a place to setup dial in access.

IF not you have a username password issue.
