Dell vs. HP desktop computers?

Just wondering which brand of computers is the best and why. HP are more expensive than dell so i'm wondering what the difference between them are.

My current machine is an HP pavillion notebook model number dv6000.

I have had it for six months, and I swear Hp has had it in repair far more than I have had it at home.

My dell desktop on the other hand lasted five years without any issues at all, and lately when I did have issues it was because the battery on the motherboard needed replacing!

(cost $2.00!)

I am buying a more reliable notebook in about two weeks. It will be a Toshiba Satellite model, sturdy and dependable.

in my expeirience the Dells are a much better computer. Dell has better tech support, too. H P is getting better on tech support. dell still is 2nd only to apple for tech. support. the Dells are easier to work on as a DIY if you are so inclined. do be careful, that youknow what you are doing in attemting DIY with computers. Dells are tops for reliability on PCs. the only thing about Dell phone in Tech support is there are instanses where becuase that come out of India, there is a heavy accent, that one may not be able to understand. as far as on-line tech support Dell is usualy pretty good. I like the XPS from Dell, but the insperion desk tops are pretty good, too. also the inspirion laptops are pretty good if you prefer laptop. some magazines that can help you on this include PC today-computer buyers guide. I think it still is printed. I know pc today is. also consumers reports can be a good help-find the issues that report on computers laptop or desk top, depends on what you like best.
Just don't buy the HP. I have owned 2 HP's and both had the same problem, at fist they worked fine but then they just started to freeze on me. I would start it up FREEZE. i restart it it works fine, in the middle of an important document FREEZE. trust me you don't want an HP (i suggest acer but dell's good too)
