desktops are cheaper, easier to upgrade, and much better with graphics. u cant have dual graphics cards connected to a 52in lcd tv, and 1tb of hard drive space with 4 250gb hard drives in raid 0 on a laptop

They're both called "computers", however, they don't have the same features. Desktops are workhorse systems, with potentially more powerful video, processor, hard drive and memory capabilities.

Try streaming to your Xbox/AppleTV/Media Extender/MythTV Box, etc. from your laptop to your T.V. with a laptop. Try running a RAID on a laptop. Try running SLI or CrossFire or even gaming at a semi serious level with a laptop.

Laptops are great, and I have several, however, nothing beats a desktop when it comes to pure horse power.
laptops are not as powerfull. to get the same speed as a desktop you need to spend preaty much double for the same speed as a desktop. and remember laptops arent made just for speed there also made for portability. basicly i dont want a laptop to expensive for the power i need
Laptops ARE actually usually reasonably slower, because of the CPU. Laptops also are behind in gaming because you can't really get good video cards for them.
