Why do my school computers reformat themselves everyday after school.?

people always try to save stuff on the computers but when they go back all the files are missing.

Most school computers just revert back to the previous days configuration. They don't technically reformat themselves. Think of restarting windows after something went wrong and you have the option of starting in safe mode, normally, or last good configuration. It's like choosing last good configuration everytime.

They do this, so students can't alter anything on the computer. You should either have a usb key to save files (which cost about $20) or you should have an account with a virtual drive where you save data. This should be and F, G, or some other letter drive you see a link to on the desktop. Ask a teacher for or the system administrator for help on how to save files on a virtual server.

I would recommend just getting a usb key though because it's much easier and the portability obviously to bring it home and work on the project.

to keep porn and such off it, and to keep them from becoming clogged with the kids personal information. Can you imagine how slow they would be if everyone was saving stuff on them? Then there's the chance of someone stealing your reports or term papers they've saved. Not all kids are real smart, they may have personal addresses and such, this is just the best way to make sure no harm comes from misuse and the school being sued.
Easier for the staff: no need to worry about viruses, pirated programs, or any sort of shenanigans you students may try to pull on the staff. Get you off, hit reset, and it resets itself back to a fresh machine. No need to debug, diagnose, or stuff like that.
To clear up space so they wont be all slow.
because some kids may have put content or put things in the wrong place.
If you need to, you could always invest in an external Hard Drive - here's what I use - http://reviews.digitaltrends.com/review1...
Students, most of them, browse and save files from questionable websites.
They probably use the computers for different classes so they just reimage them every day. It resets everything back to the same set up and prevents the computers from being filled with stuff that probably shouldn't be there. That's why you're supposed to use flash drives.
