i have two windows xp professional computers and i need to adhoc it...they are connected using crossover cable.

i am not sure what do you mean by adhoc something... but you can network two pcs with a crossover cable... set them static IP addresses (under network connection, -%26gt; local area connection -%26gt; tcp/ip then click properties), but different ones. now when you enable file sharing (just share a folder on one computer), the other one should be able to see it under my network places



ip address example 192.168.0.1, other 192.168.0.2, bitmask 255.255.255.0 on both

I only know of one way to adhoc - and that is a home router term to allow various OS platforms to access the internet and eachother. If this is what you are talking about, then you would have to get a second NIC for one of the systems and connect it to a Broadband modem. Or have one of the systems dial into the internet. The system that is connected to the internet can then act as a proxy for the other system to access the internet.
