Colleges only allowing certain computers?

I really want to buy a MacBook laptop but my mom is saying that some colleges might not accept it and that I would have to buy a different kind for college. Do most (or even some) colleges only accept certain kinds of computers?

I can't imagine that at the college level there would be any such requirements. The ONLY issue, I suppose, is whether they have adequate tech support to help specific MAC issues (e.g. connecting with the network or printers or what-have-you.)

depends on what you plan on studying. a lot of classes now require specific computer programs....some mac based..some PC based. i mean you can take whatever computer you want to school with you, they won't kick you out if you have a mac:)
You can contact the schools to find out if you can use that type of computer.
