How do I network computers?

I have (3) computers in my office and they are connected via ethernet to the DSL modem. I can't seem to get them to communicate to share folders.

We need to know what operating system you are using. Vista has an option that prevents your computer from being discoverable on the network.

If you are using 2000/XP, it might be as simple as pressing Windows Key + Pause/Break (next to num lock, brings up system properties window), click the 'Computer Name' tab, and make sure that all computers have the same workgroup name. WORKGROUP will work fine.

From there, you need to set folders as shareable on the computers you want to transfer files to/from. That's as easy as navigating to the folder in My Computer, right clicking on the folder, clicking Properties, then turning on Sharing in the Sharing tab.

Let us know how it goes!

Be sure they have the same workgroup. You have to share the folders:

first right click and choose Sharing and security.

Then from the other computers you can type

\\nameofthecomputer\nameofthefoldersha...
First set the workgroup on all the machines. Then open the exception for file and printer sharing in the firewall. If they are vista machines, on each of them go to your tcp /ip properties and click adavanced. Then click the wins tab and set always use netbios over tcp/ip, turn off use lmhosts. When the machine complains about an empty wins address, override this. Set up sharing by right clicking each folder or printer you wish to offer and selecting sharing.
You will have to create a network,
i really dont no but you should look i up on line.
