How to connect 2 computers to the internet through a router?

i am using a linksys router and everytime i connect 2 computers to it 1 has internet and 1 doesn't. The 1 that connects to the internet cannot connect to the router console and its ip is 77.99...... and the other is 192.168.... both have dhcp enabled.

Both computers should either be getting two different 192.168... IP addresses assigned by the router's own DHCP or have fixed 192.168 IP addresses. Addresses starting with those digits are always local and are invisible to (and probably illegal on) the internet. I would think the ROUTER would be getting the 77.99 IP address from the ISP.

Look into MAC (has nothing to do with Apple Computer) address cloning in the router to make it look like your original machine to the ISP. This may be your problem.

Good luck.

Is your router connected to your broadband modem using the "WAN" port. It sounds like the computer that is getting 77.99... ip address is getting that from your ISP and the one that is getting 192.168... is getting that from your router. The router should be getting the 77.99... ip and assigning both computesr 192.168... addresses.

Make sure your router is using the WAN port to the modem. And make sure your computers are on the LAN ports. Maybe try hard reseting your router (back to factory defaults).
