What are good brands for desktop computers and/or laptops?

What are some top brands for desktop computers/laptops, and which is better for music, and high performance? A laptop or a computer?

I run only HP. I've delt with Dell, Gateway, Compact, and Toshibia's, and in my personal opinion, the HP is the best performance for the price. I tend to run the Walmart standard systems and just upgrade video card, and ram as needed.

they both can be the same for what you're getting one for... your next question would be do you want to be mobile with it or not. what i think you will want is def. a mac book pro. nothing is better. and if you like windows you can run both leopard and xp or vista on the same laptop or desk top.. but for durability and mobility you'll def. want to look into the 17 or 15 screen mac book pro. you won't be disappointed!!! happy shopping!

A desktop will always be superior to a laptop in terms of performance and price. It is also very cheap to fix, when you eventually damage your laptop. Best brand names are: Toshiba, HP, and maybe Dell. Note that most laptops can be consumer (Cheaper) or business brands. The business brands are usually more rugged and worth the extra money for durability.
a laptop is a computer. You probably mean a laptop or a desktop. Generally they are about the same. Difference is that Laptops are mobile, you can move them around, but they are harder to upgrade.
