Some questions for people that build their own computers?

1. Where did you learn to make your own?

2. Is it cheaper to build one your self or buy one?

3. Where do you get the stuff that you make your computer with?(i.e. store, thrown out, garage sale)

4. How do you know if certain parts go together?(i.e. how do you know if a certain graphics card will work with the rest of the computer)

5. This question is kinda not related to building computers but, is it possible to wipe the hard drive to nothing, then install, for example a linux Operating system?

Some questions for people that build their own computers?anti virus protection

1. I kinda learned it myself... I disassembled some really old computers and assemble them back a long time ago only because i was bored.

2. Its cheaper to buy a prebuilt one, only if its a basic computer. If your going to build a powerful machine or atleast a GOOD machine, then its better to build your own since its cheaper and better quality. I'm never going back to buying a prebuilt PC because its cheaper and FUN.

3. www.tigerdirect.com, www.newegg.com

4. You have to know if they are compatible or not... you should do some research...

5. Yes, it is possible to delete the entire drive to nothing. Pop in a boot CD and delete all the partitions on the drive.

6. That 177GB might be enough for windows and linux, if your NOT planning to put alot of stuff in it like music and videos.
