Can a group of computers have the same IP address?

Can a group of computers, laptops and desk tops that conect to the internet from different locations and even at the same time be made to have the same IP address?

Can a group of computers have the same IP address?norton internet security

Yes and No. If they use public IP addresses, then each address is unique and no two nodes (whether computers, printers, etc.) can use the same address.

If they use private IP address, such as those in the 10.xx or 192.xx range, and they are on separate networks, then Yes. But if they reside on the same network, the IPs still need to be different.

No, its not possible.

They all are is same network, but they all not have same node.

One user tells router address is unique,

Router address is called default gateway, not IP address.
no. don't be silly. thats what ip addresses are for, identifying separate machines.

except they can mask it, so i suppose so.
if they use the same router, they can sometimes use the router's IP address to mask the individual CPU's IP addresses. If multiple CPUs connect in this way, they will all show up as the same IP address
A local network may all have the same IP adrress to the outside world. But each local machine will have a address that is known in that network.

Say you have a router at home with 3 computers, if you were to check the IP address from somewhere else, it would give you the IP address of the router, but each computer would have another address according to the router.
