The computers are in different rooms and a cable between them is not feasible.

Sorry no. Get a wireless router and wireless nic for one of the computers if it doesn't have one. They're about $50 each, although you may find them for as little as $20.

They're not hard to set up.

Get a wireless router and go wireless. Plug your DSL modem into the router and the router will send out a wireless signal so that you can get on the internet w/ wireless.

No, DSL goes through the phone line, which is susceptible to noise interference. Most DSL modems require that you put filters on all phone outlets to minimize this noise. So if you were to plug a second DSL modem into another phone line it would cause interference. This would be like using dial-up to connect to the internet, then picking up the phone and trying to talk.

The easiest way might be to purchase a DSL modem that has wireless capabilities and put a wireless network card into the second computer.
You should get a modem that links them. We have Linksys which is a wireless internet. We have 4 computers all running on DSL and the Linksys makes this possible. Walmart and Best Buy sell the system. And then you can each do whatever you want on the internet.
